I felt like I had won the golden ticket. I got the first shot of the COVID vaccine December 18th, 2020, the very first week it had been offered to Americans. The second shot came January 8th, 2021. It had been almost a full year of working in a respiratory hospital during the COVID pandemic. For the first time since the pandemic began, I had a glimmer of hope for an end, a return to the life we used to know. While we continue to have record breaking days for the virus, I am forever grateful to the scientist that gave me this hope.
