This is a time lapse of a digital sketch I created of a masked woman. I realized that it was ultimately a self portrait. I created it during a time when I was feeling the impact of isolation that we've all encountered during 2020. I was yearning for a connection with community!

This is my response to the Black Lives Matter movement, specifically regarding the enormous movement and commitment by the people of Minneapolis to defund the police. A beautiful image captured by Patience Zalanga showed demonstrators holding a large decorated banner with the statements #defundpolice and #defendblacklives. I was moved and encouraged by that movement, and wanted to illustrate the photo.
